Casting Shrinkage/Shrinkage Cavity

Problem Description:During the cooling process, the volume of the metal shrinks. If there is no shrinkage feeding mechanism, cavities will form in the center or thick parts.

Solution:

  • Use risers of the correct size and position to ensure smooth filling.
  • Chill iron is used in the hot zone to guide the cooling rate to be uniform.
  • Adjust the casting structure design to avoid concentrated shrinkage caused by excessive thickness differences.
